Leaving her past behind but not her days as a 2NE1 member, Park Bom blessed us with her return to the music industry by finally launching her solo career after a break that lasted four years.
Back in the days, the mighty girl group 2NE1 was the talk of the K-pop town since their debut back in 2009, and they continued to soar throughout their rising career until their unfortunate hiatus in 2014. The quartet greeted their fans, Blackjacks, again through a surprise performance at the 2015 Mnet Asian Music Awards alongside their leader CL right after her solo stage.
Sadly, that was the last time the four members reunited on stage, since their maknae Minzy left YG Entertainment in 2016. Shortly afterwards, the agency announced the disbandment of 2NE1, breaking the hearts of many fans who were hoping for an eventual comeback. One last rendition from 2NE1 was dedicated to their fandom through a “Goodbye” song, featuring CL, Sandara Park, and Park Bom.
Since then, while each member went their separate ways, we always wondered what the future would hold for Park Bom, who seemed to have retired from the spotlight. Fans’ unbreakable patience was finally rewarded with Park Bom announcing that she is not giving up on singing, but instead starting again with a new agency.
D-Nation, the agency who welcomed Park Bom, made sure that she felt comfortable in her new home. The company’s CEO Scott Kim cleared her name in an official statement and vowed to take legal action against negative comments that would harm Park Bom’s reputation.
On March 13, 2019, Park Bom made her much-anticipated comeback and held her first showcase as a solo artist. Her single album titled “Spring” contained three songs: the title track of the same name featuring her former labelmate Sandara Park, as well as “My Lover” and “Embarrassed”. She promoted the title song on various music shows for a few weeks, gracing the audience and the small screen with her delicate and bubbly personality. Furthermore, “Spring” swept major Korean charts, such as Melon and Naver.
On April 25, 2019, it was announced that Park Bom’s next comeback will be a repackaged album called “re: Blue Rose”, with “4:44” serving as the title track and featuring MAMAMOO’s Wheein. The album is scheduled to be released on May 2, 2019.
