For the new K-pop fans out there who may not know who Ladies’ Code are, this idol girl group had a promising start, as they have been nominated for a fair share of awards and even won the "New Artist of the Year" award at the 2013 Gaon's Chart K-Pop Awards and the "MBC Music Star Award" at the 2014 Melon Music Awards.
Ashley, Sojung, Zuny, EunB, and RiSe captured hearts with their elegant concept and catchy songs. These fine ladies released successful singles such as “So Wonderful” and “Kiss Kiss” among many other hit songs.
Unfortunately, the girl group's world crumbled due to an unforeseen and tragic happening. On September 3, 2014, the vehicle that was transporting the five members was involved in a fatal car accident that was caused by excessive speed on a slippery road due to the rainy weather.
Out of the five members, EunB passed away on the spot, while RiSe was admitted for a few days before her eventual death on September 7, 2014. Sojung’s condition was critical but she thankfully managed to overcome it. This sudden loss shook the K-pop community and left many in mourning. In order to make the late EunB's dream of topping the music charts come true, fans encouraged the general public to listen to the group’s song "I'm Fine Thank You" as a tribute, which made it top several real-time music charts including Melon and Genie.
On August 22, 2015, Polaris held a memorial concert in memory of EunB and RiSe. The remaining three members released the digital single "I'll Smile Even If It Hurts" on the first anniversary of RiSe's death. On February 24, 2016, the trio made their official comeback with the title track “Galaxy” from their single album “Myst3ry”. During the showcase they held on the same day, Ashley, Sojung, and Zuny mentioned their fans as their main motivation to carry on, and that although it’s incredibly hard, they will try to make up for the void that EunB and RiSe have left.
On March 7, 2019, Ladies’ code celebrated their sixth anniversary and are currently preparing their next comeback. The release is scheduled for mid-may as reported by their agency Polaris Entertainment, and they’re currently filming the title track’s music video.
